Project Details
Our Striking Contemporary was actually built remotely, with the home owners never being in North Dakota during construction. Surprisingly this was before COVID-19 had even shown up in the US. It has stood out above the rest since the beginning. (Continue reading below.)
Our client's wanted a modern mountain home fused with Las Vegas glam. They also wanted a space that distinguished work and live in spaces. In terms of design, we took a minimalistic approach and made the staircase a focal point from every angle. To keep large features of the home like the staircase and the kitchen island the focal point, we painted the baseboards to match the walls and replaced traditional window trim with sleek drywall returns and simple sills. This helped to keep the eye on the the architectural details of the home.
A standout feature is the Sapele Mahogany island which is perfect for entertaining. We went all in on storage because organization was important to our client. The 10-foot island has additional storage around both sides and the perimeter was designed with deeper drawers, allowing for two layers of storage within.
Another custom feature is the custom LED lit backsplash. It is black painted glass panels surrounded by LED lighting which creates an incredible glowing border. We dreamt up the design and worked out the installation details but couldn’t find any local contractors who specialize in this work so we ended up self-performing the install.
This new construction home is one of our favorites.
